Professor Pradeep Kumar Mishra has become Vice-Chancellor of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. Mishra was vice-chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology, Ranchi.
Professor Mishra will replace Professor Vineet Kansal who was given the additional VC charge in August of last year. He has been appointed VC for three years from the day he takes office. It will take him 15 days to a month to officially take over AKTU as a new VC, he told the Hindustan Times.

Professor Mishra obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Institute of Technology, Hindu University of Banaras (IIT-BHU) in 1995. According to the official website of IIT BHU, he completed his MTech in Chemical Engineering, majoring in petroleum and coal, from IIT Bombay in 1988. He completed his BE, chemical engineering, from IIT Roorkee in 1986.
Mishra’s areas of interest lie in bioenergy, biocompatible polymers and nanofibers, bio-restoration / degradation, photo-degradation and membrane separation, according to the IIT-BHU website.
“My responsibility will be to take the university to a new height so that it can compete with many other technical universities of national and international renown. Innovation will be my favorite field. Research work will be encouraged, “Mishra told the Daily.

In an interview with a local newspaper, Mishra said that in his new role, he will focus on instilling innovation and start-up culture at the university.
Professor Mishra has been named the new VC amid protests from students for conducting offline exams for odd semesters at AKTU. Students have long requested that exams be conducted online due to fear of Omicron.
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, formerly Uttar Pradesh Technical University, is a collegiate public university located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India.
