Innosea appoints offshore wind heavyweight as first R&D director

Innosea, the engineering specialist in marine renewable energies, appoints Jean-Christophe Gilloteaux to the newly created position of R&D director.

“R&D forms a vital part of accelerating the commercial development of advanced marine renewable technologies. After many years of cooperation with leading international scientific research organizations covering some of Europe’s most high-profile R&D projects in the fields of floating wind, solar photovoltaic and ocean energy, I am delighted to take our R&D projects to the next level with Jean-Christophe at its head.”

Hakim Muslim, MD Innosea

Jean-Christophe is a highly experienced offshore wind research engineer and senior project manager. He joins Innosea with 15 years of experience in hydrodynamics and ocean engineering. Previously, he was a senior research engineer in marine renewable energies at IFPEN (French Institute of Petroleum and New Energies), and for 8 years at the Ecole Centrale de Nantes at the LHEEA Hydrodynamics & Offshore Engineering Lab.

He will join the Innosea team in Nantes, France, and lead the management of the R&D team and the company’s project portfolio. He will also work closely with renewable energy specialists in sister companies of the ABL Group to establish strategic partnerships and support in a broader portfolio of research, development and innovation projects.

“Innosea has already gained an excellent reputation as an R&D partner of many multinational collaborative projects. I look forward to adding my experience and skills to tackle the R&D team even further.”

Jean-Christophe Gilloteaux, R&D Director at Innosea

Innosea has supported a large number of EU-funded R&D projects, including to name a few: PORTOS (Ports Towards Energy Self-Sufficiency), BOOST (Bringing Offshore Ocean Sun to the Global Market), TRUST -PV for floating solar photovoltaic, and COREWIND (reduction of costs and increase in performance of floating wind generation).

In addition, Innosea is an active member and shareholder of France Energies Marines, the French National Institute for Energy Transition where several offshore wind research programs have been launched for a total of €12 million in national public investment.

Innosea, part of the Oslo-listed ABL Group, is a leading engineering partner in multinational R&D projects to support innovation and validation of new design concepts for floating wind, floating solar PV , wave and tidal energy and carbon reduction initiatives for ports.
