Bharathidasan Institute of Management Partners with CMT Association to Equip Finance Students for New Era Jobs

The Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), Tiruchi, has joined the CMT Association’s Academic Partnership Program, paving the way for certification of aspiring students and finance professionals for new era positions.

Selection for the program signifies a strong commitment to student career preparation and applied learning. Academic Partnership Program institutions demonstrate academic rigor in financial courses ranging from quantitative methodologies to behavioral finance, portfolio management and other key aspects of technical analysis, said Asit K Barma, Director, BIM Trichy.

“With this partnership, the two institutions exemplify an innovative solution to the growing demand for student education and career preparation, while advocating for the advancement of technical analysis in India in the field of finance. Technical analysis, which is a crucial part of investing and trading decisions, has evolved over hundreds of years.While modern technical analysis retains its roots in classic observations of market behavior, it expands beyond pattern recognition to use breakthrough quantitative methodologies and rules-based design and testing of business systems,” said Professor Barma, adding: “This is another initiative of our Financial Trading and Analytics Center (FINTRAC), the only one of its kind in Tamil Nadu so far. The Center is also open to other B schools and universities.”

CMT certification will help our students diversify their career paths, including new professional roles.

Aditya SA, currently a first-year MBA student doing an internship at Ernst & Young – GDS, said his project focuses on interest rate simulation and derivatives pricing. “As I come from an engineering background, the CMT modules will help me understand the basics as well as advanced concepts of futures and options, in addition to fundamental and technical analysis of portfolios.”

MoU signed

BIM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chennai-based School of Design Thinking, to establish a Design Thinking Center on its campus.

The center created would aim to advance the practice of Design Thinking in the local ecosystem in order to identify new ecosystem values ​​and conduct research on future practices in Design Thinking. The Center also aims to apply Design Thinking frameworks to functional areas such as government service delivery; Sustainable Development Goals/Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance; and new technology applications in areas such as finance, marketing, operations and supply chain, and human resources, said BIM director Tiruchi Asit K. Barma.

The scope of the agreement also includes running Design Thinking-focused programs and activities for students, faculty, and BIM stakeholders to enable Design Thinking on campus.

“We strive to create a design-driven culture at BIM. The partnership with the School of Design Thinking and the creation of our Center for Design Thinking will foster academic pursuit, research and practice around Design Thinking.
