Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inaugurates 17 New Buildings of Different Engineering Schools | Patna News

PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday launched a total of 22 buildings of different engineering colleges and polytechnics worth Rs 1,087.27 crores, across the state.
Out of the total, 17 new buildings worth Rs 893.60 crore were inaugurated while foundation stones were laid for 5 buildings worth Rs 193.67 crore.
During the inauguration of the 17 new buildings and the laying of the foundations of five others via video conference from the “Sankalp” hall of the CM residence, Nitish said that the construction works of all the buildings of all the engineering schools and polytechnics would be completed by the end of December 2022.
Nitish further said that every person in the state knows that he has decided to open an engineering college and a polytechnic in each of the 38 districts of Bihar. New buildings for all these colleges were being constructed. Only a few buildings are under construction. Buildings for all these colleges would be completed by the end of 2022.
He said that the 17 buildings which were inaugurated today are in the engineering colleges of 8 districts. Polytechnic school buildings were constructed in Khagaria and Bettiah. Similarly, hostels for boys and girls have been constructed in polytechnics in Sasaram, Chhapra, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Bakhtiyarpur and Chandi.
CM further pointed out that previously, the gross enrollment ratio (GER) among students aged 17-23 was only 13.9% in Bihar and 25% nationally. “I have set a target that at least 30% of boys and girls in Bihar will be motivated to pursue higher education. We have created several new institutions of higher learning in the state. Now, according to the 2021 report, Bihar’s GER has risen to 19.3%,” Nitish said.
The CM also recalled how he had worked hard to open an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Bihta and convert the former Bihar Engineering College into a National Institute of Technology (NIT).
MP CM Tarkishor Prasad and Construction Minister Ashok Choudhary also spoke at the event.
