BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky donated four cars to the automotive technology programs at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College.

Donated vehicles include all-wheel drive and hybrid models of Camry and Rav4 and range from 2017 to 2021. These vehicles provide SKYCTC students the opportunity to learn the latest technology in the automotive world. SKYCTC could not have purchased vehicles as often as needed to stay on the cutting edge of technology, so Toyota’s donations ensure that SKYCTC students receive training on the latest technology in the automotive field.

“The donation was for all of our transportation programs, including diesel technology, automotive technology and collision repair. These programs provide training to our students on advanced electronics and automotive collision detection systems, ”said Gene Basil, SKYCTC’s Dean of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies. “Each program will have the ability to present a new hands-on exposure to the complex systems of current vehicles and be better prepared to serve emerging technologies.”

Transportation programs prepare graduates for entry-level maintenance technician jobs in the auto repair industry. Students learn to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing and repairing automobiles and trucks.
