CHANDIGARH: Punjab Minister of Medical Education and Research, Dr. Vijay Singla today admitted that mainstreaming innovation as a primary goal of medical education and reasonable medical education for the Weakest Economic Section (EWS) category is our primary motto.
Speaking about his initiatives to revive medical education in the state, Dr. Vijay Singla said that the state government is working to reduce the fees for MBBS students for EWS category to make medical education affordable for common deserving students. Calling it a need of the hour, he said affordable medical education is like a boon to the society besides the students as this initiative will strengthen medical care across the state as well as the country.
Talking about the improvement of maintenance and facilities in government medical colleges and hospitals, the Cabinet Minister said that health and education are the core areas of our government. He added that we are striving to provide better healthcare facilities to the general public, especially poor patients. He also said that the financial powers of medical principals/superintendents of medical schools and hospitals will be strengthened to maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the infrastructure.
Dr. Singla also said that our state government is firmly committed to eradicating red carpet culture from every nook and corner of the state. He said emergency services would benefit greatly from proper provision and the direct accountability of local administrators.
