Kalyan Dombivali in the district of Thane in Maharashtra and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh were named co-winners of the Covid Innovation Award by the Union’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, a city official said on Friday. For the competition, the Smart Kalyan Dombivali Development Corporation Limited had submitted nominations for the Covid-19 Innovative Award on behalf of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC). The shortlisted finalist cities were Kalyan-Dombivali, Varanasi, Vadodara and Agra, of which Kalyan-Dombivali and Varanasi were announced as co-winners by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in Delhi on Friday.
Speaking on this achievement, KDMC chief Vijay Suryavanshi said that the award was won thanks to the commitment of many doctors, paramedics, health service employees, NGOs and elected officials etc.
