We are seeking a new VP of Research and Innovation to lead the research enterprise at Stevens through services and support that help faculty, staff, and students plan, conduct, and commercialize groundbreaking research. . Stevens’ research enterprise spans engineering, science, business, social sciences and humanities, and arts and technology. Reporting to the Provost and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice Provost will advise the Provost on a wide range of issues related to research and innovation. The Vice-Rector will develop and implement the vision and strategy to vigorously grow the Stevens research enterprise, including external funding; create an ecosystem that fosters research and scholarship across the university; work closely with faculty and university leaders to seek funding opportunities and achieve fellowship goals; establishes and maintains relationships with funding agencies, government laboratories, industry and foundations; facilitate technology transfer; and take on additional responsibilities aligned with strategic goals set by the Provost. The Vice-Rector oversees the University’s research operations and technology transfer and commercialization functions, including establishing and expanding relationships with industry. The Vice-Rector oversees the offices of Sponsored Programs and Innovation and Commercialization. The Vice Provost, in conjunction with other University offices, ensures research integrity and compliance with all federal and university regulations and policies.

The successful candidate must be an accomplished researcher with an internationally recognized reputation in research and success in attracting research support and advancing knowledge transfer. They possess the ability to establish and strengthen research partnerships; elevate Stevens’ identity as an innovative, technology-driven research institution; and create a shared sense of mission across the university’s research enterprise and various constituencies. They also have a general knowledge of the wide range of disciplines, interests and constituencies at Stevens, with a demonstrated commitment to shared governance and diversity.
